About Sustainable Development Policy & Practice
Funding for Sustainable Development Policy & Practice has been provided by European Union (EU)
Start-up funding for Sustainable Development Policy & Practice was provided by France’s Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing. Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) and Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) provided funding for our coverage of the events leading to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). Continuing funding from the European Commission is gratefully acknowledged.
The Sustainable Development Policy & Practice Icon
The icon for Sustainable Development Policy & Practice plays off the icons of IISD RS' other knowledgebases – Climate Change Policy & Practice, Biodiversity Policy & Practice, and SIDS Policy & Practice – by using the shape of a globe, but segmenting it into three sections to represent the three pillars of sustainable development. The leaf represents environmental protection, the cogwheel represents economic development, and the human faces represent social development. Each segment flows into the next, conveying the connections among the pillars, and when arranged together, they form a whole. The colors used in the icon - gold for sunshine, green for the natural world, and blue for water - reflect recognized images of sustainable development. The icon was created by Canadian graphic designer Joanne Laval.
The Sustainable Development Policy & Practice Team
The Sustainable Development Policy & Practice team of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) Reporting Services brings you news and information on the activities following up on the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, also referred to as Rio+20). The team of highly-qualified experts regularly updates the Sustainable Development Policy & Practice website (http://uncsd.iisd.org/) and produces the Sustainable Development Update, which contains the latest stories posted to Sustainable Development Policy & Practice, along with guest articles written by the Heads of UN and other intergovernmental bodies, and IISD RS SD Policy Updates.
