27 November 2012: The UN Division for Social Policy and Development (DSPD), Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), has issued a draft note on the outcome of consultations regarding indicators of well-being. UN General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 65/309 of August 2011, titled “Happiness: towards a holistic approach to development,” inviting States and UN entities to elaborate on measures for the pursuit of happiness and well-being in development.

Brazil Reports on Sustainability of Rio+20 [viewed]

RIO+2029 November 2012: The Government of Brazil has released a Sustainability Report for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 2012. The report highlights the National Organizing Committee's (NOC Rio+20) attempts to structure the conference considering the three pillars of sustainable development (environmental, social, and economic), and emphasize accessibility, sustainability and partnerships.

Voluntary Commitments Total 715 After Rio+20 [viewed]

RIO+2028 June 2012: The UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) Secretariat has reported receiving 715 voluntary commitments, including commitments that will mobilize more than US$500 billion in action towards sustainable development. These include 52 government commitments, 82 UN/IGO commitments and 581 Major Group and civil society commitments.

19 June 2012: The Sustainable Development Dialogue Days took place in Rio de Janerio, Brazil, in the context of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio+20) from 16-19 June 2012. The forum for civil society, organized by the Government of Brazil, with the support of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) brought together approximately 1,300 representatives from civil society, including the private sector, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the scientific community, among other major groups to engage in open and action-oriented debate on themes related to sustainable development.
