PGA Reports on Technology Dialogues, Transmits Elements for Resolution [viewed]

UNGA13 August 2014: The President of the UN General Assembly, John Ashe, has issued a Summary Report and recommendations from the four one-day "structured dialogues" on possible arrangements for a facilitation mechanism to promote the development, transfer and dissemination of clean and environmentally sound technologies. He also noted the presentation of draft elements for a procedural resolution on the issue, and indicated that the current co-facilitators will lead intergovernmental consultations in this regard.

Consultations on Post-2015 Summit to Resume in September [viewed]

UNGA1 August 2014: UN Member States decided to postpone concluding the informal consultations on organizational modalities of the UN Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda. The consultations are expected to resume in early September. Consultations started on 27 June 2014 at UN Headquarters, in New York, US, and continued throughout July, with delegations discussing a draft resolution and annexes that elaborate on key elements, which were circulated by the co-facilitators, Robert Guba Aisi of Papua New Guinea, and Ib Petersen of Denmark.

First US-Africa Summit Addresses Energy, Food Security [viewed]

Event: 75th Session of the UNECE Committee on Housing and Land Management [viewed]

The seventy-fifth session of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Committee on Housing and Land Management (CHLM) will review the current and past activities of the Committee and its Working Parties. The range of topics to be discussed includes the Country Profiles on housing and land management, sustainable housing and real estate markets, energy efficiency in the housing sector, sustainable urban development, and land management. The 75th CHLM will be preceded on 7 October 2014 by a day of informal negotiations on the draft Charter on Sustainable Housing.

OWG Co-Chairs Reflect on Consensus Outcome [viewed]

OWG28 July 2014: In a letter to Member States, the Co-Chairs of the Open Working Group (OWG) on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) express their hope for a far-reaching impact of the outcome agreed at the 13th and final session of the OWG (OWG 13), held on 14-19 July 2014. Macharia Kamau, Permanent Representative of Kenya, and Csaba Kőrösi, Permanent Representative of Hungary, note that the Group's report was approved with “only a handful of expressions of reservations on some targets,” and is "truly indicative of a global consensus."
